Leaffooted bugs have long, slender sucking mouthparts that they insert into plant tissue like a hypodermic needle. They suck out plant sap and inject saliva that further digests plant tissue. The leaffooted bug is among several species of “true bugs” in the order Hemiptera that commonly infest landscape prickly pear cactus.  Read more about leaffooted bugs.
